  • About Labradoodles | Labradoodle Breeder | Vancouver | Notch Hill Labradoodles

About Australian Labradoodles There is good reason why today the Australian Labradoodle is one of the most adored and popular dog breeds. They are friendly and smart as well as being one of the easiest dogs to train. They are the perfect family dog, but are also sought after by professionals specializing in therapy dogs, as they are so attentive and loving. They are also known for being allergy friendly. And don’t confuse the Australian Labradoodle with the other common Labradoodle. The difference is that the Australian Labradoodle is not just a cross between and Lab and Poodle… it is also crossed with a cocker spaniel. Australian Labradoodles have curly, smooth coats and shed little to no hair. The dog is standard, medium or miniature in size. Average heights of the different sizes are 21-24 inches, 17-20 inches and 14-16 inches, respectfully. Notch Hill breeds Australian Labradoodles because they are the perfect combination of a laid back dog while still being outgoing and social. That is why the dog is a perfect candidate for a family pet and therapy dog. And don’t be surprised if you find your Labradoodle acting comical or taking part in clever acts. The breed is extremely intelligent and seems to know what makes people laugh. Health wise like every dog with an abundance of energy, Labradoodles should be taken for regular walks and provided with an outdoor space for everyday activity. They should also be trained early, regularly and socialized at an early age. And of course, veterinary check-ups need to be scheduled to spot early signs of health issues. However, the Australian Labradoodle bred by Notch Hill has a better chance of avoiding common health problems due to our diligent health testing. Here is a little history of the breed and its future: The Australian Labradoodle breed dates back to the 1980's and was initiated by Wally Conran of Royal Guide Dogs located in Victoria Australia. The intent was to create a breed that was allergy and asthma friendly with the temperament of a service dog. To continue the efforts of Wally Conron, breeders in Australia began breeding Labradoodles determined to produce litters with consistent conformation, coat type, and temperament. During the 90's, a number of other dog breeds were bred into the Labradoodle lines to assist in this effort.” Today, even though it is a relatively new breed, it is protected by strict regulations and requirements. To be certified is an integral part of the breeding process. Notch Hill is a member of the Worldwide Australian Labradoodle Association , which means that each litter will be registered and have a pedigree and a registration #. Independent breeders and breeding organizations all over the world are dedicating themselves to take advantage of the Australian Labradoodle’s potential and uphold standards of excellence. That is one major reason why now is one of the best times to own an Australian Labradoodle. Selecting a breed that compliments your lifestyle and character has never been easier. Notch Hill is dedicated to matching the right owners with the right puppy.
